Bicycle light: how to switch the batteries.

Bicycle light: When the light on your bicycle starts to grow dim it is time to change the batteries. This means that you will need to remove the light from its mount, obtain the correct kind of replacement batteries. Insert the batteries into the unit and return it to the mount. The first thing do to would be to consult the instructions that came with the light, but if your like me they were lost soon after the light was purchased and mounted on your bike. To remove the light from the mount is usually a simple matter. Most bicycle lights will have a Quick Release Bracket. A Quick Release Bracket is good to have, because if you leave your shinny new light on your bike while you go cruising the Mall, it will be smashed, broken, bent or otherwise disfigured when you come back, if it is still there at all. But there will be a button or a small tab that is depressed to release the light from its mount. In the rare case that your light does not have a Quick Release Bracket you may need to look for a screw that holds the unit to the mount. Once the light is removed you will need to open the battery compartment. There are many different types of bicycle light and each one is a little different from the other ones. Some will have a small hatch that opens to gain access to the battery compartment, while others may require you to remove the light lens on the front of the unit. And some will have a screw that can usually be twisted open with your thumb nail. With the batteries removed you can determine what type they are. Most bicycle lights will take either 2 AA batteries or 3 AAA's. Modern LED lights don't require the larger D or C batteries. When you have the correct batteries, look for a diagram somewhere on the light that shows how to insert the batteries. And insert the batteries as shown. Then reverse the process to reassemble the light and mount it back on the bicycle. With the batteries replaced you will be ready to safely ride your bike after sunset for another 50 hours or so. .
