Comedian monique: On the heels of her recent win for Best Supporting Actress at the 2010 Oscars, the comedienne Monique' seems to be the 'it' girl of Hollywood. Portraying the mother of a mildly retarded and abused girl in the Oprah Winfrey produced movie 'Precious', Monique seemed to shed her comedy aura and has recieved some acting respect for the movie role. With the high accolades, it has done nothing but give Monique the title of one of the best loved comedians of the new millenium. With her quick wit and gift of gab, Monique has captured audiences all over the world with her standup routine and has become adored for television roles in which she has been a mainstay. Monique made her television debut and became a household name as a star on the WB sitcom 'The Parkers'. Ever since then, Monique has been embraced by not only African American audiences but all other races as well. What makes Monique so enticing and adored is that she is able to make fun of herself and use it to her advantage. Monique has gone on record and talked about battling weight problems and depression as a child and that comedy was a way that she used to battle her insecurities. She has talked about battling addiction and relationship problems and not sulking over it but enjoying life and if you ever watch Monique in action it is a definite enjoyable expierience. After her Oscar accolades, Monique is back to television and most recently was the driving force behind the VH1 show 'Monique's Fat Chance' which was a cross between comedy and women's empowerment for overweight women. The show is all about Monique full circle and her showing other women who have been in her situation that as long as they have a positive outlook there is nothing that can stop them from going to where they want to be. Monique is one of the best loved female comedians of the new millenium because she does not try to be something that she is not.
